Regular maintenance of your aquarium filter media ensures optimal filtration and water quality. Follow these steps to replace the activated carbon in your 450IF filter.
Important:
Before performing any maintenance, disconnect the mains electricity supply and refer to your product instruction manual for troubleshooting guidance.
When to Change the Activated Carbon
- Replace every 2-3 months for optimal performance.
- A box of activated carbon (available here) will last approximately 1-2 years.
How to Replace the Activated Carbon
- Unplug the filter from the power supply.
- Remove the filter from the aquarium and dry it off.
- Disassemble the filter by pulling it apart at the centre.
- Locate the activated carbon tray inside the filter.
- Remove and open the white tray to access the activated carbon.
- Replace the old carbon with fresh activated carbon.
- Rinse the media basket thoroughly with aquarium water until the water runs clear.
- Reassemble the filter and place it back into the aquarium.
- Reconnect the power and ensure the filter is functioning correctly.
